Rejoicing in the Morning

By Terri Blazell-Wayson

I’m weeping in the night, Lord

All through the long and lonely night.

How dark.

How sad.

My crying never stops.

You promise rejoicing in the morning,

When will the morning come?

It’s a never-ending night

That presses in on me.

So dark.

So damp.

I gasp for every breath.

Bring the morning.

Let me see the sun.

The night is too long,

The morning so far away.

Unnatural.

Unholy.

Like death without dying.

Wipe my tears with sunlight.

Bring rejoicing in the morning.

Psalm 30:5 For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.

We rejoice in the morning for our Savior has risen! He has risen indeed!
